A classic p r o b l e m w i t h HPLC valves is that they m u s t be rated for the m a x i m u m possible system pressure (typically 5000 psi), resulting in reduced lifetime and in generation of particulates w h i c h d e g r a d e system performance a n d c o l u m n lifetime. Its n e w EXL Technology™ incorporates a passive feedback system which limits valve sealing force to actual system pressure. If the system pressure is 2500 psi or less, the valve will only have enough spring tension to seal at that pressure; w h e n system pressure exceeds 2500 psi, additional force is exerted against the seal proportional to system pressure.
