In your R&D work, try a clean, predictable Du Pont VAZO* for the initiation profile you need. R-N=N-R^2R«+N: Du Pont's VAZO polymeriza tion initiators allow a choice of three reaction rates to achieve the initiation profile required: VAZO 64,52 and 33. VAZO 52 is about six times as active as VAZO 64, and VAZO 33 about 15 times as active as VAZO 52. And each can be blended for a more specific profile.

Instead of peroxides. VAZO initiators decompose cleanly and predictably to gen erate free radicals based on car bon rather than oxygen. In addition, VAZO initiators are effec tive over a wide pH range and are not shock-sensitive. VAZO initiators are com monly used in vinyl polymeriza tions and other chain reactions such as chlorination and oxida tion. Polymers produced with VAZO are often more color-stable and durable than those produced with peroxides. VAZO won't interact with most other materials, including mercaptans and sensi tive monomers such as amines. Pigments won't decompose VAZO, and VAZO won't bleach dye stuffs. Perhaps you can think of new ways to put VAZO to work.
