T
he title of this short paperback would lead one to the conclusion that the book would be of great interest to every process R&D chemist. However, nothing could be further from the truth! The book is written with the bulk chemical industry and petrochemicals and polymers in mind and has little relevance to those working in batch processing in the fine chemicals/pharmaceuticals area. In fact, the writing is quite cumbersome with expressions used without definition. There is no list of abbreviations and, surprisingly, no index at all. There is only one chapter not written by the author of the rest of the book, and this is a case study on amine absorption processes for CO2it is the best written chapter of all. In conclusion, I cannot recommend this book to readers of Organic Process Research & Development.
