Hercules, Inc., Wilmington, Del., will build graphite fibers plant at Bacchus, Utah, previously planned for Bowling Green, Md. Company will make graphite fiber, preimpregnate it in form of tape and broad goods, and do research and development for complex composite structures using graphite fibers. Facility scheduled to begin production April 1971. Farmland Industries, Inc., Kansas City, Mo., will build phosphoric acid unit adjacent to its phosphate plant near Bartow, Fla. Facility will include two sulfuric acid units, phosphoric acid unit, and calcination unit. Plant to be on stream by late 1971. Baroid division, National Lead Co., Houston, Tex., has completed $4 million mineral synthesis plant adjacent to its present complex in Houston. Facility produces micro-spheroidal fluid catalyst for cracking petroleum gas oils to high-quality gasoline, synthetic clay mineral, high- and low-area polysilicic acid, synthetic hectorite, and synthetic zeolites.

Corporate Dexter Corp., Windsor Locks, Conn., has acquired Wornow Process Paint Co., Los Angeles, Calif., for 50,846 shares of Dexter common stock. Company also acquired all outstanding stock of Wornow Process Paint (Canada), Ltd., Toronto. Wornow makes specialty inks, many based on epoxy technology for electronics industry. Dart Industries, Inc., Los Angeles, has agreed to acquire Lancy Laboratories, Inc., Zelienople, Pa., engineering consulting firm specializing in metal finishing and metallurgical waste disposal. Acquisition will be for 27,660 shares of Dart common stock. W. R. Grace & Co. has formed Natural Resources group to supervise company's investments in Peru and Bolivia, other West Coast countries in Latin America, its international petroleum operations, and its ore and mining activities. Group has current sales of more than $150 million an-

nually. Grace has also sold its Rudy Patrick Seed division to newly formed Rudy Patrick Co. of Kansas City, Mo. Company's Hatco group has acquired Herman's Sporting Goods Co.

International Entreprise Minière et Chimique (EMC) of France and Netherlands' AKZO will build 1 million metric-tonper-year sodium chloride refining unit near Mulhouse in northeastern France. By-product sodium chloride from EMC's potash mines in Alsace will be refined for export to various European chlorine producers. Lummus Nederland, N.V., The Hague, Netherlands, subsidiary of Lummus Co., which is subsidiary of Combustion Engineering, Inc., will design and engineer 80,000 metric-ton-per-year expansion of BICM (Royal Dutch/ Shell subsidiary) polyvinyl chloride plant at Pernis. On-stream date is April 1972. Lurgi, Frankfurt, West Germany, will build 500,000 metric-ton-per-year sulfuric acid plant for Norddeutsche Affinerie, Hamburg. Unit will use Bayer double catalysis process. Friedrich Uhde, GmbH, Dortmund, West Germany, has been awarded contract to design and build chloralkali electrolysis plant for Farbwerke Hoechst, A.G. Plant, to start operation in February 1972, will have initial annual capacity of 167,000 metric tons. Veba-Chemie has begun operating 100,000 metric-ton-per-year cyclohexane unit at Gelsenkirchen-Buer, West Germany. Unit uses Institut Français du Pétrole process. American Cyanamid's Italian and Spanish subsidiaries will expand, consolidate, and modernize facilities for producing and marketing Lederle pharmaceuticals and Cyanamid agricultural products. Cyanamid Italia, S.p.A., will build production facilities, warehouse, and administrative and sales offices in Catania, Sicily. Laboratorios Reunidos, S.A., will move from Madrid to 35-acre tract in Algete.
