An Inexpensive, Efficient NMR Tube Cleaner A simple device which cleans nmr tubes quickly and efficiently is presented. I t is easily constructed from readily available laboratory supplies and apparatus. An electric stirring motor, fitted with a chuck, is attached to a ring stand. A size 3-mm pipe cleaner, 8 in. in length, is fitted into the chuck. The pipe cleaner is submerged into a cleaning solution and then inserted into the nmr tube. While holding the nmr tube, the operator starts the electric motor. Greater efficiency in cleaning is obtained by moving the nmr tube up and down slightly. After being cleaned in this manner, the nmr tube is rinsed with distilled water and dried.
