Inexpensive Rubber Stoppers for Small Diameter Tubing Aregular rubber stopper can be easily half-bored out to accept small diameter tubing and function as a stopper a t a fraction of the cost of a microstapper. Asharpened cork borer ofthe desired diameter i s used. Arubber stopper of appropriate size is selected and bored halfway through. The base of the stopper is then twisted to a t least 45' out of line of the borer, and the borer is rotated one or two more times. This action usually severs the bottom of the cylinder of rubber within the borer. The core remains in the borer as it is removed. If it should remain with the stappper it can usually be pulled out with a needle nose plier.
