Indicating Bellows Meter Gaining Wide Acceptance PHILADELPHIA—Only four years after its introduction, Honeywell's 6" dial Bellows Meter has earned a fine reputation for a wide range of flow and level applications. These ruggedly-built indicators can be found in chemical plants, refineries, and utility yards; often, 20 to 30 are used on a single unit. More and more plant engineers are specifying them to measure liquid level and flow of gases, liquids or steam where recording or transmission is not required. They are inexpensive devices to show operators exactly what conditions exist. The Honeywell Indicating Bellows Meter is dependable. It has a sustained

either horizontal or vertical piping, top or bottom mounted, and can be installed so that the meter is self-vented, drained and purged. Ranges can be changed in the field by removing a single spring assembly. Field calibration can be made without removing the dial. The meter has a screwdriver-set zero adjustment in the pointer and a span adjustment behind a removable plug on the dial. These instruments have easy-to-read 6" dials calibrated 0-100 linear or 0-10 square root, plus a number of optional graduations. Pressure ratings of 1,000 and 2,500 psi, tested at 1,500 and 3,750 psi respectively, and 15 different ranges with various piping options make them practical for any flow or liquid level measurement. THERMISTOR-ACTUATED temperature controller, R7187, controls small heating applications such as electric elements in plastic molding and extruding equipment. A solid-state switching network varies the controller's output between 0 and 1000 watts, 120 volts ac, by separating out the desired portion of the sine wave. The unit has a range up to 550°F. Custom-Made Cryostats Available from Honeywell POTTSTOWN, Pa. — Cryostats designed by Honeywell's Special Systems Division are now available on a custom basis for some of the most difficult of all temperature applications—calibration of platinum and germanium cryogenic temperature sensors. The self-contained, integrated system includes dewars, precision control equipment, high-accuracy measuring circuits and digital readout equipment. Included in the relay rack-mounted systems are programmers for automatic operation and National Bureau of Standards calibration reference standards. Calibration is accomplished by inserting test and control sensors and the primary standard into the appropriate cryogen — liquid helium, nitrogen, hydrogen, etc. When the temperature of the cryogen is controlled at various levels, defined precisely by the primary standard, calibration data is developed and printed out. Up to six sensors of the same type can be calibrated at one time. Honeywell engineers say that while calibration accuracy depends on a great many factors, the use of appropriate thermal shunt materials, adequate radiation shielding, and the highly stable Honeywell control equipment result in accuracies of a few millidegrees. Inquiries on Honeywell cryostats should include such information as calibration range, sensor type, sensor size, number to be calibrated at one time, accuracy requirements, and typical calibration curves.
