Introducing Article Transfer from Letters to Regular Articles key criterion for evaluating a submission to The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters (JPCL) is that a significant advance is reported in the paper that justifies urgent communication. Our streamlined editorial process allows us to quickly publish the papers with citable pagination in 4−5 weeks. Often we receive papers that are scientifically sound but either do not completely justify consideration as urgent communication or require additional results to strengthen the scientific arguments. The Editors ascertain the merit of scientific content either during the initial editorial review or after the peer review process. If the manuscript is considered not to be appropriate for JPCL but is recommended for consideration in The Journal of Physical Chemistry (JPC) A/B/C, the author is advised to resubmit the paper as a regular article. Until now, these papers were returned to authors with a recommendation that they should revise and resubmit as a full paper to JPC A/B/C. This step required authors to resubmit the paper as an entirely new submission by reentering all of the author, reviewer information, and so forth. In order to simplify and shorten the resubmission process, we are introducing a new ACS Paragon Plus feature that will allow transfer of manuscripts directly from JPCL to JPC A/B/C. With the new functionality, whenever a JPCL editor recommends the author resubmit his/her revised paper as a full paper to JPC A/B/C, the author will receive an electronic link in the decision letter that provides the option of either accepting or rejecting this recommendation to transfer. If the author accepts,

the manuscript record and associated content in ACS Paragon Plus will automatically be transferred to enable submission to JPC A/B/C. The author then needs to complete the submission process, including selecting the appropriate journal (JPC A, B, or C) and subject category. To complete the submission, it is essential for authors to delete their old files and then upload a new cover letter, new manuscript files (revised to be appropriate for JPC A/B/C) and Supporting Information. Authors will find this new transfer feature to be a convenient way to have their previous JPCL submissions considered as full papers by JPC A/B/C and avoid having to reenter information. We take this opportunity to thank our authors and readers for making JPCL the premier journal in physical chemistry. We look forward to our continued partnership with the authors by introducing this new streamlined manuscript transfer process.
