Introducing the Review Manuscript Type
■
DEAR JCIM COMMUNITY, We continue to make changes at JCIM in response to our Editorial Advisory Board and to our readers. In this editorial, I want to briefly highlight the creation of a new Review article category. Our field is constantly evolving, and keeping up with all the exciting computational chemistry/biology research is a real challenge, which we hope can be partially alleviated via the creation of timely reviews. The details of the review format are as follows: Reviews are topical, brief (∼8−10 printed pages), and of general interest to the readership. A good review critically evaluates existing work, provides a logical organization, and makes the material more easily available to those not expert in the area through clear text and figures. Reviews must be ∼5000 words in length. Reviews should contain ≤100 references, and the use of graphics to illustrate key concepts (3−5 display items) is strongly encouraged. Reviews must include ∼8−10 keywords extracted from the text. Include a graphical Table of Contents entry consisting of a colorful figure that represents the topic of the review. Authors are encouraged to send a presubmission inquiry to the editorial team for approval prior to submitting a review to the journal. The presubmission inquiry should contain a brief summary of the proposed review and its significance to the field. For presubmission inquiries please e-mail the journal at
[email protected]. As always, JCIM strives to publish the best science our field has to offer, and we thank you for your continued strong support! Sincerely, Kenneth M. Merz, Jr.
