The uranium-vanadium separation was carried out in the apparatus described in Figure 2. The main difference was in the stripping devices that are connected to the foam column, D, by a glass joint. Test solutions, prepared as described above, were transferred to the foaming vessel, B, provided with a porous septum, e . The nitrogen flow, saturated with water in A , was started, to produce foam. Foam passed first into E, containing 10 ml. of 0.2M Versene solution, then into G containing 10 ml. of 2.ON HCl. Each run, conducted at a gas flow rate of 20 ml. per minute and room temperature (21 ' to 24' C . ) , was terminated after 6 hours' operation.
I t is evident from the summarized data of Table I1 that the extracted uranium and vanadium can be scrubbed from the foam and recovered separately in the stripping solutions.
