THIS ROAD IS PAVED WITH GOOD INVENTIONS Specifically, Cardinal Products Inc.'s NOCOR 690 containing Jefferson's SURFONIC® sur face-active agents. Emulsified asphalt is frequently used in resur facing aged asphaltic pavements. The fogged emulsion flows into the cracks where the water separates from the asphalt, leaving a smooth continuous asphalt membrane. NOCOR 690, containing the SURFONIC surface-active agents, hastens the demulsification process. This permits traffic to travel on the treated surface much sooner without spoiling the sealing job or soiling automobiles. In other applications, conventional compacting of pavement bases requires spreading with a blade and several repeated cycles of watering and rolling before the correct water content is achieved. NOCOR 690 increases the penetra tion of the water into the base, and reduced sur face tension lessens the tendency of the water to rise by capillary action and be lost by evap oration. The contractor makes fewer passes, saves time and equipment maintenance costs. NOCOR 690, containing SURFONIC products, also has "problem-solving" effectiveness in As phalt Bonding and Hot Mix Blending. Let us tell you about the versatility of our SUR FONIC N, JN, LF and LR series of nonionic surface-active agents. Better still, let our appli cation research laboratories work closely with you in developing your "problem-solving" chem icals . . . Jefferson Chemical Company, Inc., P. 0.
