Earl L. Wehry is professor of chemis try at the University of Tennessee. His principal research interests in clude fluorescence and phosphores cence spectroscopy, photochemistry and excited-state chemistry, applica tions of lasers to analytical spectros copy, and the chemical degradation of environmental pollutants.

Gleb Mamantov is professor of chem istry at the University of Tennessee. He has broad research interests in the areas of analytical and inorganic chemistry that range from electro chemistry in molten salts to applica tions of matrix isolation infrared spectroscopy to analytical chemistry and the characterization of reactive intermediates.
