Jefferson Chemical announces the first U.S. commercial production of
WMLmm HOCMOCIUM
Diglycolamine is an essentially colorless, slightly viscous liquid possessing a mild amine odor. It is miscible with water and alcohols, but relatively immiscible with aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons and ethyl ether. It undergoes the typical reactions of alcohols and primary amines.
diglycolamine will have an advantage over monoethanolamine in avoiding cyclic structures. TYPICAL

This product is isomeric with diethanolamine, and the same applications are suggested such as natural gas scrubbing, preparation of foam stabilizers, wetting and emulsifying agents, con densation polymers. However, diglycolamine has certain structural advantages over diethan olamine. It has a primary NH 2 group which makes it more reactive than diethanolamine. When diglycolamine is reacted with fatty acids, a less complex mixture is obtained as com pared with diethanolamine. In certain reactions,
