SCENE OF KC CONCLAVE. New university center at the University of Kansas City, which will be the site of the 13th Annual Kansas City Chemistry Conference sponsored by the ACS Kansas City Section

The 13th annual Kansas City Chemistry Conference will be held Nov. 17 on the campus of the University of Kansas City, Mo. A program of 22 papers and a Symposium on the Chemistry of Free Radicals have been scheduled. Chairman of the conference committee is I. L. Honigberg of Midwest Research Institute. Sponsor of the conference is the ACS Kansas City Section. At the dinner in the evening the C. F. Spencer Award will be pres e n t e d to Dr. Herbert L. Haller, a s s i s t a n t to the Administrator of t h e Agricultural Research Service, USDA. He will make the Spencer Award Address at Hal 1er * n e evening session. Dr. Haller was selected for his contributions to agricultural and food chemistry. He has also been widely recognized for his basic research leading to the development of rotenone and the pyrethrins. The award, which includes a medallion and $1000, is administered by the ACS Kansas City Section and was established by the founder of Spencer Chemical Co., Kenneth A. Spencer, in memory of his father, Charles F. Spencer. 98

AAAS Chemistry Program The 128th meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science will be held Dec. 26 to 31 in Denver.
