of
Pyridine bases (TAR BASES)
Mew plant facilities will make possible the production o>f increased quantities of pyridine bases, including alpha picoline; mixtures of beta picoline, gamma picoline and 2.,6 lutidine; 2,4 lutidine; close boiling fractions boiling within the range 160-200°C; quinoline and mixed quinaldines. Pyridine bases are used in the production of pharmaceuticals including the sulfa-drugs, nicotinic acid and nicotinic acid amide; as solvents; as sources of copolymcrizing materials for synthetic rubber; in the manufacture o f textile waterproofing compounds and in compounding pickling inhibitors. The greater availability of these pyridine bases should emcourage the development of many other uses for them. Koppers will be glad to furnish samples ot these bases and will assist in the selection of suitable grades for specific purposes. Request samples from Koppers Co., Xar and Chemical Division, Pittsburgh 19, Pa.
