and Lime

HAVE CHEMICALLY IDENTICAL ORIGINS

M Wffo

Over a century ago, a slave diving for pearl oysters off the coast of Panama found what's probably the world's most famous and valuable pearl. As a reward, he was given $40. The last buyer of it paid over $40,000. Named La Peregrina — The Wanderer—this pearl, like the shells from which some lime is made, is the mineral aragonite. And like limestone, from which most lime is made, its chemical composition is CaCOs. The two minerals differ only in crystalline structure. A far-fetched relationship, pearls and lime? Of course, even though valid. We used it just to attract attention to a product that has, but doesn't deserve, a mundane image. Lime has risen far, far above its historic uses in building and agriculture. Today it s the No. 2 industrial chemical in volume, and does many things extremely well and economically. You might benefit from knowing more about it. So upon request, we'll send you an interesting book titled Chemical Lime Facts. Just write for it to our Department C-3. LIME "THE" VERSATILE :HEMICAL
