This new edition is published in keeping with plans announced b y t h e a u t h o r s in earlier editions for revising t h e volume as necessary. T h e authors point o u t t h a t t h e use of classical manometric methods has declined somewhat in recent years, coincident with increasing use of spectrophotometric methods. T h e y did n o t feel t h a t this should p r o m p t a n y reduction in coverage of manometric techniques, b u t were impelled t o a d d a chapter on spectrophotometry. Another addition is a chapter devoted t o t h e design of chromatographic procedures. Because of rapid advances in technique, extensive revisions have been m a d e in t h e c h a p t e r on isolation of particular components of t h e cell, as well a s in t h e chapter on analysis of phosphorylated intermediates.
