Entropy and other thermodynamic functions are usually taught using the perfect gasas the ideal medium to illustrate changes in U, the internal energy, A and G, the Helmholtzand Gibbs free energies, and S,the entropy of the system under consideration. I have found that it is extremely helpful to the student to use nut only the perfect gas as the medium under studv. .. hut also the rubber band.
