After development and testing, Linde is pleased to introduce FIBRALUME, an aluminum cylinder package designed to minimize the risk of injury and be dependable for high purity gas applications. Linde's extensive testing in 1976 revealed that, in high pressure specialty gas applications, a significant loss of mechanical strength could occur in aluminum cylinders after exposure to temperatures in excess of 450°F. Linde postponed marketing gas mixtures in aluminum cylinders until a package that satisfied our concerns regarding this potential hazard could be developed. The LINDE FIBRALUME cylinder features a lightweight protective overwrap of composite reinforced material which is permanently applied to the exterior of the aluminum cylinders. The composite overwrap insulates and protects the cylinder sidewall from the effects of accidental heat exposure. Most importantly, it's designed to dramatically discolor upon exposure to temperatures in excess of 450°F.
