Luque, Yan, You: 2018 Winners of the ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering Lectureship Awards ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, the ACS Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Division (I&EC), and the ACS Cellulose and Renewable Materials Division (CELL) are pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering Lectureship Awards. These awards recognize the research contributions of scientists, working in green chemistry, green engineering and sustainability in the chemical enterprise, who have completed their academic training within the past 10 years. Lectureship award winners are selected for three regions: The Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia/Pacific. The winners of the 2018 ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering Lectureship Award are • Professor Rafael Luque of the University of Cordoba (Cordoba, Spain), honored for his work on mechanochemical, solventless synthesis of nanomaterials for heterogeneously catalyzed applications and flow processes, and his work on converting biomass to valuable chemicals.1−5 • Professor Ning Yan of National University of Singapore (Singapore), honored for pioneering the “Waste Shell Biorefinery” concept, including catalyst and process development for converting chitin based materials, as well as lignocellulose, and waste cooking oil, into fuels and chemicals.6−10 • Professor Fengqi You of Cornell University (Ithaca, New York, USA), honored for his contributions in process systems engineering, sustainability analytics, and life cycle optimization of supply chains.11−15 The winners will be honored at an I&EC/CELL Division symposium in their honor at the 255th ACS National Meeting in New Orleans, March 18−22, 2018.
