Three low-cost liquid scintillators now available combine excellent per formance with reliability. NE 235 mineral oil-based scintillator (for largevolume application) has a high flash point, excellent light transmission prop erties, and does not attack Perspex, Lucite, or Plexiglas. NE 233 toluenebased and N E 250 dioxan-based liquid scintillators are widely used for internal counting applications. NE 233 is used for samples soluble in organic solvents or with Solubiliser NE 520, Hyamine, Triton-X, etc. It has a light output of 74% relative to anthracene. NE 250 is recommended for routine counting of aqueous samples. It has a high water capacity, five parts by volume will ac cept up to one part water. Light out put is 50% relative to anthracene. NE 235 is supplied in 20-, 100-, and 200liter drums; NE 233 and 250 are sup plied in bottles of 2 liters. Nuclear Enterprises, Ltd., Sighthill, Edinburgh 11, Scotland. 031-443-4060 505
