Temperature was measured with a 25 Ω standard platinum resistance thermometer on ITS-90. Pressure was measured with a digital quartz pressure transducer. The experimental uncertainties in temperature and pressure are estimated to be 5 mK and 1 kPa (k = 2), respectively. New saturation-pressure correlations for the refrigerants have been formulated based on the present saturation-pressure data. The critical pressures of R1123 and R1243zf were also determined.

Based on the present data, saturation-pressure correlations for these refrigerants have been formulated. Moreover, the critical pressures were also determined.

INTRODUCTION Depletion of the ozone layer and global warming are the most serious global environmental problems that human beings all over the world have encountered. The ozone layer depletion has been recognized as a serious challenging issue since the 1970s. The production of CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) and HCFCs (hydrochlorofluorocarbons) has been regulated by the Montreal Protocol since 1987. In addition, the global warming effect on the earth has become more serious. Recently not only CFCs and HCFCs but also HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons) have been added as the target of the refrigerant regulation by the Paris Agreement of a review of the Kyoto Protocol. Specific targets for a phase down of the HFCs were agreed at the 28th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol (known as the Kigali Amendments). HFO (hydrofluoroolefin) refrigerants with a carbon−carbon double bond in the molecular structure are expected as the next generation refrigerants with low ozone depletion potential (ODP) and low global warming potential (GWP). Many HFOs and their mixtures have been proposed over the past decade. The authors have already reported thermodynamic properties for 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (R1234yf),1−3 trans-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (R1234ze(E)),4−7 and cis-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (R1234ze(Z)).8,9 In this work, the experimental results of saturation pressures for new low-GWP refrigerants trifluor© XXXX American Chemical Society



CURRENTLY AVAILABLE DATA OF SATURATION PRESSURES FOR NEW LOW-GWP REFRIGERANTS Basic thermophysical properties of new low-GWP HFO refrigerants expected as R410A alternatives are summarized in Table 1 together with R410A and R32, which are presently used in refrigerators and room air conditioners. HFOs of R1123, R1234yf, and R1243zf listed in Table 1 have relatively low critical temperatures and low normal boiling temperatures compared with other newly synthesized HFOs. Currently available saturation-pressure data for R1123 and R1243zf are very limited. Some experimental results were provided only in conferences,10−14 and the numerical values are not easily accessed. Received: September 14, 2017 Accepted: December 14, 2017
