he 223rd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society will be held Sunday, April 7, through Thursday, April 11, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The meeting will feature more than 460 technical sessions and presentations. The Division of Analytical Chemistry (DAC) will sponsor or cosponsor 13 technical symposia. Other highlights of the meeting will include the ACS awards, ACS workshops and short courses, and a national employment clearinghouse. Social events will include the DAC poster session on Sunday evening, April 7, and a Sci-Mix on Monday, April 8. On-site registration facilities will be located in the convention center. Hours of operation will be Saturday, April 6, 3–7 p.m.; Sunday, April 7, 7:30 a.m.–7 p.m.; Monday, April 8, 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m.; Tuesday, April 9, 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m.; Wednesday, April 10, 7:30 a.m.– 4 p.m.; and Thursday, April 11, 7:30 a.m.–12 p.m. Registration is $320 on-site for ACS members, $555 for nonmembers, $165 for emeritus or retired members, and $55 for graduate students. One-day session tickets are $165 for members and $320 for nonmembers. An exposition featuring 487 booths and representing 270 companies will present the latest instruments, books, computer hardware, scientific software, lab equipment, furniture, and safety equipment. Located in halls B1 and B2 of the Convention Center, the exposition will be open Monday, April 8, 9 a.m.– 5 p.m.; Tuesday, April 9, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; and Wednesday, April 10, 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Admission is complimentary for meeting registrants; exhibit-only badges can be purchased for $40 ($10 for students with school identification). Cussler; Award in Analytical Chemistry—Alan G. Marshall; Frank H. Field and Joe L. Franklin Award for Outstanding Achievement in MS— Brian T. Chait; and the E. Bright Wilson Award in Spectroscopy—Takeshi Oka. The DAC dinner is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8th, at the Latin Quarter restaurant (6000 Universal Blvd., Suite 709, Orlando, FL). Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from any DAC officer at the meeting. A so-

cial hour will precede dinner at 6 p.m. The ACS Dept. of Continuing Education will offer several analytical chemistry-related short courses at the meeting.
