ASMS in Palm Springs

The 45th American Society for Mass Spectrometry Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics will be held June 1-5 at the Palm Springs (CA) Convention Center. The conference will feature daily plenary lectures, oral and poster sessions, short courses, and workshops. Registration will be held Sunday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Rates are $200 for members, $75 for student members, $290 for nonmembers, and $170 for student nonmembers. Approximately 20 workshops will be offered during the meeting and six short courses will be offered before the meeting. The newly established Biemann Medal for achievement in MS in the early stages of one's career will be presented to Scott McLuckey of Oak Ridge National Laboratory on Wednesday, June 4. The ASMS Award for a Distinguished Contribution in Mass Spectrometry will be presented on Thursday, June 5, to Franz Hillenkamp of the University of Miinster and Michael Karas of the University of Frankfurt for the development of matrix-assisted laser/desorption ionization (MALDI).
