Symposium o n Fluid D y n a m i c s HE Chemical Engineering Symposium T Committee of the Division of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry is busy
with plans for the Symposium on Fluid Dynamics, to be held on December 27 and 28 a t the Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, Pa. The program title is considered to include t h e general theory of turbulence and related subjects, such as eddy diffusion and also hydraulic and air separation. The committee, consisting of E. W. Comings, T. B. Drew, C. C. Furnas, and W. L. McCabe, chairman, desires additional papers related to fluid flow and fluid dynamics, particularly along practical engineering lines. Prospective authors should submit an abstract of about 200 words to Warren L. McCabe, Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pittsburgh, Pa. The closing date for completed manuscripts is October 15. This symposium is the first to be organized by the new committee, which was appointed last winter on the retirement of B. F . Dodge, Τ . Η. Chilton, Τ. Κ Sher wood, and D. B. Keyee, chairman. Four previous symposia have been held annu ally at Christmas time on distillation, heat transmission, absorption and extraction, and drying and air conditioning a t the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale, Columbia, and the University of Pennsylvania. A feature new t o these symposia will be a half-day meeting on December 28 with the Society of Rneology, which will also be meeting in Pittsburgh. At the joint session, papers of interest to both groups will be presented.
