Low-Cost Simultaneous TG/DTA/DTG Mettler explodes the myth that it takes a $50,000 instrument to conduct simultaneous T C / D T A / D T G . O u r bench-top Thermoanalyzer 2 w i l l do it at half the cost. Results are valid and r e p r o d u c i b l e because weight-change and enthalpicchange data are derived from the same sample under a precisely controlled environment. No longer must you test t w o samples on separate instruments . . . and end up questioning your data because you're not sure that test parameters were identical. T h e r m o a n a l y z e r 2 also plots D T G simultaneously. The first derivative of the weight change lets you measure temperatures for the beginning and end of weak or overlapping reactions.

And study the kinetics of decomposit i o n , d e h y d r a t i o n , and o x i d a t i o n reduction. Ordinarily, you'd hand plot the derivative—a time-consuming technique that's unreliable where weightchange curves are complex and slopes are continuously changing. Detect subtle slope changes on a secondary weight-change curve (TGEI) that expands the primary weight-change curve (TGI) by a factor of ten. If TGLT goes off the chart, a step switch automatically brings the trace back on again to give you an effective chart w i d t h of 100 inches. to 12 grams (42 grams if you're weighing below the balance). Choose from 26 heating or cooling rates between 1 and 100°C/min. Or conduct your experiment isothermally between 25 and 1000°C. Cycle between preselected upper and lower limits to repeat a reversible reaction. Select your gas atmosphere — corrosive, inert, oxidizing, or reducing. Then let your techn i c i a n set up t h e e x p e r i m e n t and program the instrument. It w i l l automatically carry out the determination, record the thermogram — unattended — then shut itself off.
