Fluorine can no longer defy routine instrumental analysis. With the Schlumberger Model 105 Analyzer you can now non-destructively analyze Fluorine content of liquids or solids in any sample size from 0.2 to 40 cc in as little as 30 seconds. With smaller sample, higher field homogeneity permits high-resolution structure analysis. Chemical shifts can be clearly observed and measured. Linear response in terms of mass of Fluorine present can be obtained with the integrator accessory. When chemical shift is great enough, each peak in an unknown mixture can be separately integrated . . . or with equal ease, the mass of Fluorine present can be read out. Precision of this Schlumberger N M R Analyzer is normally 1 % of signal; sensitivity, in the milligram range. Other instruments are available for analysis of Hydrogen (total), Polymers, Fats and Oils, Moisture . . . and Boron, Phosphorous, and a host of additional elements. and is graduated in 5-degree increments from 0 to 90. The Polaroid material in the analyzer eliminates the need for the stigmatizing lenses required with Nicol prisms, according to the company. Another feature is a flip-in quarterwave plate which allows the specimen to be viewed in circularly polarized light. B&L says this gives the observer a keener sense of the optic axes and can measure 2V more easily. Also, it is much easier to determine the dispersion in interference figures. Only one observation instead of two is needed.

MODEL: NMR-105 Circle No. 153 on Readers' Service Card

The Model 151 emission spectrophotometer introduced by Land-Air, Inc. is designed to detect, indicate, and record spectral radiant flux density in absolute units from the ultraviolet to infrared on one continuous chart. The

apparatus uses high sensitivity photomultipliers in conjunction with a Bausch & Lomb grating monochromator. This, says the company, provides maximum optical and detection efficiency in measuring the spectral distribution of low intensity light sources. Phototube spectral response is automatically corrected by an adjustable compensation network. Chart records for the Model 151 are directly calibrated in energy units, with a linear wave length scale extending from 3200 to 9000 A. P-12 Variable Resistance Device. Input motion on Regohm transducer causes smooth, stepless change of resistance in output circuit ; responds to less than 0.0001 inch mechanical displacement; controls up to V 4 kw. of power. Electric Regulator Corp. P-13 Cartridge-Type Water Filters. Four models feature transparent acrylic barrels; flow ratings from 2.5 to 15 gallons per minute; available porosities enable removal of particles ranging from 5 to 50 microns. Ion Exchange Products, Inc. P-14

table-top unit separates ten cubic feet of dry, ultra-pure hydrogen per hour Wherever pure hydrogen is needed and impure hydrogen is available, the Model C Serfass Purifier can provide a constant, economical, trouble-free source. Presently available analytical techniques are not sufficiently sensitive to determine any impurities in the hydrogen separated by this new instrument. Impure hydrogen under pressure is passed over a resistance-heated bundle of palladium alloy tubes. Hydrogen and deuterium pass through the tubes, but all other gases are barred. Unlike pure palladium, the special alloy will never become brittle, needs no purging or system evacuation. Typical feed gases for the purifier include impure hydrogen, forming gas, cracked ammonia, and cylinder hydrogen. The model C will separate fifteen cubic feet of hydrogen per hour at differential pressures to 100 psi with a maximum outlet pressure of 150 psi. Larger capacity units are available on special order.
