For Polymer Branching Information... Think Low Angle Laser Light Scattering

Chromatix® Low Angle Laser Light Scattering (LALLS) detectors and software give unique polymer branching data when coupled with Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC). RESULTS: NBS Polymer Standard SRM-1476 is known t o contain branched material. The LALLS detector clearly indicates a high molecular weight fraction that is below the detection limit of the Differential Refractive Index (DRI) detector. CONCLUSIONS: The CMX-100 LALLS detector is inherently sensitive to high M"w polymers and can yield unique results complementary to conventional GPC concentration detectors such as a differential refractive index unit (DRI). Only with LALLS can the polymer analyst realize the full potential of GPC for branched materials.

LALLS SOLVES PROBLEMS: It can easily detect the presence of that smalt concentration of high fHw polymer that would otherwise escape detection by using only a concentration detector. These unseen small concentrations of very high H w branched polymers can dramatically alter the performance and processing characteristics of the material in many different applications. The production or end-use suitability of your polymer may be assured when LALLS data is used for routine quality control. FAST AND EASY TO USE: The CMX-100 system is designed with unique features that save time and money: • No GPC calibrations needed • Absolute M w for branched and linear polymers • No lengthy and difficult post run calculations required LDC/Milton Roy proprietary software dramatically extends the data generated by the CMX-100. It provides complete data formatting and many special calculation routines. A l l are available through easy-to-use-and-understand "menu"-driven prompting, specifically designed for the polymer chemist. AFFORDABLE: The CMX-100 is designed t o provide routine L A L L S information to the polymer analyst at a surprisingly affordable price. The CMX-100 interfaces easily and quickly to your present GPC system and can operate at temperatures up to 150°C. It can be used with equal ease for aqueous and nonaqueous polymers. COMPLETE SERVICE AND SUPPORT: Field service is now available through the extensive LDC/Milton Roy network. We maintain a complete applications laboratory to support your needs in GPC/LALLS.
