Kellogg Steam Methane Reforming Process Sets New Lows in Direct Operating Costs Wherever you may be planning a new ammonia plant—for ammonia alone or as a component of a complete fertilizer complex, recent developments in Kellogg Steam Reforming now make a Kellogg-designed ammonia plant more economical than ever to operate as well as to build. The figures shown above are direct operating costs per ton for five major U.S. areas. They are based on rates given in the utility table (right). Catalyst and chemical consumption have been included—at 340 per ton of ammonia product and li per ton, respectively. Labor, maintenance, taxes, insurance, depreciation and interest have not been included since these vary with individual client situations. Feedstock for the process in this case is natural gas. Comparable low operating costs are possible 24
