Outhwaite have most kindly drawn our attention to the fact that the Gouy-Chapman (GC) results for the excess co-ion adsorption isotherm at negative electrode charge densities displayed in Figure 1 of our article are inconsistent with their results. In checking over our calculations, we find that we did indeed make a small error. As a result, Figure 1 of our article should be replaced by the following figure. None of the conclusions in our article are affected.
