"The handling of saturated sodium chloride brine causes severe corrosion in our equipment," declared a manu facturer of pharmaceuticals. "We'll w e / ' come any suggestions/'

One easy step may lead to the solution of your corrosion problem.

From INCO test files, cases were selected covering the conditions outlined by the manufacturer as well as others of a like nature. The first case dealt with speci mens exposed to saturated salt solution a t 180° F. The corrosion data were as follows: Nickel Monel

Ni-Resist . Cast Iron .

All you need do is send for the Corrosion Data Work Sheet, complete it and let I N C O Technical Service help work out the answer . . . without cost or obligation on your part.

In another case, where specimens were exposed to saturated salt spray, steam and air a t 200° F. the results reported were: Nickel Monel

Ni-Resist Cast Iron

It makes no difference whether or not nickel and its alloys are involved in the problem which faces you. The I N C O Corrosion Data File con tains reports on many commonly used materials . . . and that information is at your disposal. • Send today for your copy of the Corrosion Data Work Sheet. Properly informed, our tech nical advisers can provide you with complete, impartial reports, interpreted in the light of your particular needs.

The manufacturer was also furnished with the results of a third case. (Nickel was not included, but should show the same corrosion rate as Monel.) After alter nate exposure to saturated salt brine and hot air in a rotary salt dryer f o r 145 days, corrosion rates were computed as follows: Monel

0.0002 ipy Cast Iron .

Ni-Resist . . 0.019 i p y

0.0016 ipy

As a result of these tests, Monel equipment was in stalled. No further difficulties were experienced. Note: Because of its high resistance to corrosion, wear and abrasion caused by wet salt crystals, Monel has* been consistently used in salt refineries for more than 25 years.
