In case of fire, the sudden rise in temperature will cause the alarm to sound. The thermostat control is set for approximately 140° F., at which point the alarm will go off. The alarm stops when the temperature drops back to 100° F. Electric current is used only during sounding of the alarm. A safety lock is designed to hold the unit in place, preventing any tampering.
