Easily machined to close toler­ ances, graphite can be worked even with hand tools. Depending on size a n d processing require­ ments, t h e materials can be supplied for either monolithic or s e g m e n t a l s t r u c t u r e s . Segmental structures have been built with walls 2 0 ' long χ 1 5 ' high, using blocks W i " thick, 2 8 " wide and 7 2 " long.
