What made thatcoDKr CUD break? ADVANTAGES OF SPECTROGRAPHS ANALYSIS • Sensitive to 1/10,000,000 of a gram for some elements • Saves time in analysis • Detects unsuspected metals • Accurate testing is possible with very small sample • Provides a permanent record • Differentiates between two elements chemically very similar • Analysis can be made in some cases without destroying sample The term "National" is a registered trade-mark of Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation

• A manufacturer of shallow copper cups was having difficulty with severe cracking during the forming operation. T h e possibility of impurities caused him to turn to the spectrograph as a means of e x a m i n i n g the metal for a wide range of elements. Using these globular techniques, a comparatively large quantity of metal was rendered molten in a d-c arc. This method enhanced the sensitivity of the low boiling point elements. It was found that traces of tellurium were present in sufficient amounts to reduce the ductility of the copper. This approach led to the investigation of subsequent shipments of copper for tellurium content and eliminated further difficulty.

If you have, don't fail to specify "National" spectroscopic electrodes. They are the purest obtainable. Each shipment is accompanied by a "statement of p u r i t y " which tells exactly what trace elements are present. Your analyst can then assess his films with complete accuracy, without being confused by unexpected spectral lines.
