Flocculator-Clarifier The Nu-Treat flocculator-clarifier is designed for use as a final clarifier in activated sludge applications which require flocculution to enhance the sludge settling. The unit combines the features of random motion flocculation and Tow-Bro sludge removal. Random motion flocculation is achieved through a unique arrangement of the paddles and their relation to the drive shaft. The paddles are connected to the tank wall with Teflon connectors which accommodate the oscillating motion o f the paddles and do not require lubrication or maintenance. The Tow-Bio sludge remover gives complete sludge removal through u gentle suction action rather than the conventional plowing of sludge to sludge hoppers. The suction action reduces agitation of the sludge to a minimum which is particularly important when the sludge is of the light and flocculent type. Rex Chainbelt, Inc. 86

Disposal system. Bulletin 6052 is an 8-page publication that describes a compact, sludge combustion system expressly designed for communities of less than 10,000. The type CR FS disposal system consumes sludge in a cyclonic-flow combustion process, reducing sludge volume by 99%. The self-contained system includes the necessary dewatering, combustion control, and accessory components. It comes pre-wired, prepiped, and can be installed in less than a week. DorrOliver. Inc. 87

The brochure includes a cost comparison of treatment plants using Surfpac media and rock trickling filters, photographs of Surfpac installations, and operating data needed to design full scale Surfpac units. Dow Chemical Co. 98 Organic silicon compounds. Catalog S-3 is a 12-page handbook of more than 200 compounds. It contains a special section on reagents and stan-

dards for trimethylsilylation and packings for gas chromatography of polar compounds. Pierce Chemical Co. 99

Lubricated plug valves. Reference Book 40-1 is a 48-page catalog of the company's line of lubricated plug valves. The valves feature a controlled high pressure lubricant system, a builtin means for moving the plug to prevent sticking, closely mated sealing surfaces, and a triple seal around the stem. Homestead Valve Manufacturing co. 100 Pressure recorders and indicators. Bulletin G-11A describes a series of pressure recorders and indicators for measuring and recording pressures from 0 to 80,000 p.s.i. The 12-page bulletin includes recorders and indicators for outdoor models, panel instruments, portable models, and gas distribution pressure recorders. The catalog contains a chart which shows
