Even though it operates under high pressure and temperature, and uses sulphuric acid as a catalyst, this esterification unit is engineered against d e t e r i o r a t i o n , It will resist corrosion and erosion. That's because it is fabricated of "Ampco" 8 plate. "Ampco" 8 plate is a superior aluminum bronze. Its "S" factor (allowable stress) is the highest for copper-base alloys. It is free from stress corrosion cracking. Pre-heating or postheating is not required during welding. For this reason, necessary field fabrication can be accomplished on the job site, using AMPCO-TRODP weld rod. Now, Pfaudler reactor accessories that are tougher than Glasteel'" Your next PfaudlerO Glasteel reactor will give you even more years of dependable service. It will require less maintenance than ever before. Reason? The agitator, bame and covers for manhole and agitator access vdil be made of Pfaudler Nucerite.@ This tough ceramic metal is two to five times more resistant to abrasion than Glasteel, It exhibits exceptionally high impact strength. A n d it offers the same high degree of corrosion resistance that you have grown to expect from Glasteel. You could say that Nucerite i s a supertough Glasteel. Why just accessories of Nucerite? Our experience in servicing Glasteel reactors indicates that the agitator and baffle are the primary causes of shutdowns. These components plus the manhole and agitator-access covers are those most frequently subjected t o

mechanical abuse. Thus mechanically strong Nucerite was the logical answer to Iorger service life for tnese critical parts. Since its introduction four years ago, Nucerite has proven its toughness in hundreds of chemical processing conditions. Because it is a ceramic metal rather than a glassed metal, it can and doestake muck, more mechanical abuse. Take a closer look at the baffle. It is an entirely new design - a unique "D" style made of Nucerite. This geometric shape divides the flow pattern into several streams, creating a high degree of turbulence behind the baffle. It produces a powerful top-to-bottom turnover, A n d the power it absorbs equals that of two conventional finger bames. The ceramic-metal construction adds important strength t o the restricted-tip therrnowell and irrproves heat transfer. TP,e D-baffle is another Pfaudler first. The shape of the three-blade retreatcurve agitator remains unchanged, b u t

now it is made from Nucerite. It continues to be the best design forglassedsteel reactors. We are certain once you use Nuceriteequipped reactors you too will standardize on ceramic-metal accessories for all your glassed-steel vessels. We have. Regardless of size, 5 to 4000 gallons, your Pfaudler Glasteel reactor can be supplied with Nucerite agitator, baffle and covers. In fact, our 10-daydelivery standards now come equipped with Nucerite accessories. The decision is yours. Glasteel reactor accessories continue to be stocked. But, for a slight increase in price, you can have tougher, more serviceable Nucerite accessories in your next reactor. Before you decide, send for our Data Sheet No. 70.
