ant, Sonac, that assures a weathertight seal between dissimilar building materials a n d provides maxim u m performance in areas subject to extensive joint movement. I t can be applied easily, without priming, to glass, metal, wood, porcelain, a n d masonry. Sonac rapidly attains firmness, remains elastic, and is virtually unaffected by ultraviolet rays, ozone, moisture, or temperatures ranging from -30" F. u p to 200" F. I t is available in 5gallon pails or in cartridges of 11 fluid ounces each. Sonneborn Building Products, Inc. 30 1 FLUOROCARBON DISPERSION AGENT

CRYSTALBOND

KantStik 118, a specially modified fluorocarbon carried in a volatile medium, provides excellent mold separation for any plastic or foam. I t may be applied by brushing, wiping, or spraying. I t has been successfully tested i n fabrication processes such as compression, injection and transfer molding, filament winding, casting, encapsulating, and h a n d lay up. I n addition, i t can be applied to roller guides, conveyors, a n d other handling equipment to prevent parts or materials from sticking and to simplify cleaning. Specialty Products

A translucent, precatalyLed, room-temperature curing liquid silicone rubber packaged i n applicator-type tubes a n d cartridges as well as bulk containers is available. Following application by brushing, spraying, or pouring, RTV-118 cures a t room temperature to a firm, flexible, resilient rubber on exposure to moisture from the air. It has a low viscosity (approximately 350 poises a t 25" C . ) i n the uncured state, making i t easily pourable. General Electric Co. 303 c H E M I S T R-Y

CRYSTA LBOND

An acetone soluble adhesive suitable as a temporary bond for holding delicate crystals, metallurgical specimens, glass components, a n d ceramic substrates for machining, slicing, grinding, and polishing is available. T h e thermoplastic polymer will bond readily to metals, glass, or ceramic surfaces a n d will not clog the cutting blades or grinding media. T h e adhesive can be removed easily using a simple acetone rinse procedure. Aremco Products, Inc. 304 BIOCIDE AND POLYELECTROLYTE

A liquid concentrate that destroys algae and other biological growth and removes mud, silt, and solids from recirculating and oncethrough water cooling systems is available. T h e water treatment compound Biolyte, which contains a highly effective biocide, an organometallic salt, and polyelectrolyte, a high molecular weight, organic polymer, is compatible with all types of cooling water treatment systems. Supplied i n liquid form, this material does not cause foaming of treated water. Vulcan Laboratories, Inc. 305 TRIBUTYLPHOSPHINE AND TRIOCTYLPHOSPHINE OXIDES

T B P O and T O P 0 are offered i n semicommercial quantities and in a reagent grade for analytical extractions. T h e alkylphosphine oxides are cornplexing agents in the solvent-solvent extraction of metals. In a typical system, a nonpolar solvent, such as kerosine, cyclohexane, or benzene, is used to quantitatively extract uranium, vanadium, platinum, gold, thorium, or other metal salts from a variety of strong acids. T h e y also may be used as homogeneous catalysts either by themselves or as complexes with metal salts. Carlisle Chemical TVorks, Inc. 306
