HOT MELT ADHESIVE
A hot melt adhesive for bonding paper substrates is suggested for sealing folding cartons, corrugated cases, and multiwall paper bags. Additional applications of Eastobond M-3 include the sealing of polyethylene coated containers. T h e relatively high “pop-open” temperature makes it well suited for use on containers which may be subjected to shipping and storage temperatures as high as 160° F. T h e adhesive is approved under U. S. Food Additives Regulation for use in food packaging. Eastman Chemicals Products Inc. 301 HIGH DENSITY RESINS
Six new high density polyethylenes-five at 0.960 density, one at 0.958-are available. T h e group includes two resins for sheet extrusion, two for blow molding, and two for injection molding. All are low flow resins, meet FDA requirements, and offer excellent processibility. In bag truckload quantities, the sheet and blow molding resins are priced at 19$/lb. and ‘the injection molding resins at 18$/lb. Chemplex Co. 302 HEAVY DUTY INDUSTRIAL COATING
T h e new nonslip Garlock 510 Enamel may be applied directly over oily, moist, or rusty surfaces without prior degreasing or priming. T h e coating possesses a 20min. drying characteristic and provides excellent abrasion resistance. According to the manufacturer, it will add safety as well as beauty to repainted concrete or metal floors. I t is available in I-, 5-, and 55-gal. containers. Garlock, Inc. 303 CORROSION INHIBITOR AND ANTIFOULANT
Nonchromate CWT 111, a blend of cathodic corrosion inhibitors and dispersing agents which together provide total corrosion and fouling, can be used for open, recirculating 96
cooling water systems where toxic chromates cannot be tolerated. Its use accomplishes two objectivesprovides excellent corrosion inhibition for a wide range of metals normally found in cooling water systems and provides a strong combination of antifoulants to prevent deposits on the waterside surfaces of heat transfer equipment. Drew Chemical Gorp. 304 WATER DISPLACING AGENT
Special features of this product include: the ability to displace water on wet metal surfaces, no damage to bimetallic systems, long lasting film, miscibility with lubricants, and compatibility with many combinations of ferrous and nonferrous metals. It offers economy because its great capillary action necessitates only a small amount to cover a large surface area. One gal. covers a minimum of 5000 sq. ft. and it is oil soluble; noncorrosive; easily applied by spray, dip, or brush; easily removed by petroleum solvent, vapor degreaser, or alkaline cleaners; heat resistant to 400’ F.; and meets government specifications. GRAPHITE FILAMENTS
T h e new material has significantly higher specific strength and specific modulus properties in an ideal reinforcing agent for composit structures. T h e filament diameter has been gradually decreased, resulting in a material that is easier to weave and presents few problems in fabricating composites. T h e yarn incorporates a filamentary modulus of elasticity of 50 million p.s.i. with a density of 1.63 grams/cc. and a tensile strength of 285,000 p i . Possible uses for composites of the material include aerospace, hydrospace, and aircraft structures that require maximum strength and stiffness with minimum weight. 306

GRAPHITE FJLAMENTS
EMULSION BREAKER
This liquid material, Sepol 432, improves the efficiency of mechanical or gravity oil separations, such as air flotation units, API separators, wet cyclones, and centrifuges. This new material was designed to eliminate pollution problems caused by the discharge of different oils and emulsions encountered in the metal processing, metalworking, petroleum refining, steel mills, or any other industry discharging "oily" wastes. W. R. Grace & Co. 307 EPOXY FLOORING MATERIAL
Concresive #1155, easy to apply and economical to use, is suitable for repair and resurfacing of industrial and commercial floors and general repair of concrete, masonry, and other surfaces that are subjected to hard wear and/or chemical erosion. I t is a two-component epoxy resin system, which when mixed in equal parts by volume becomes a light cement gray in color. The material has a pot life of 55 min. at 77" F. and cures in 24 hr. at 77" F. to accept light traffic with heavy duty use acceptable in 48 hr. I t is resistant to many acids, oils, greases, alkalies, solvents, brine, and other chemicals. Adhesive Engineering Co. 308 SURFACTANT
BQ-30, a new biodegradable, anionic phosphate ester with excellent hard surface cleaning properties is supplied in acid form as a 91% active aqueous solution. It is completely stable when blended with anhydrous sodium hydroxide or other alkaline builders, and is soluble in concentrated alkaline built liquids. It is recommended for use in high temperature soak tank cleaning compounds, heavy duty all-purpose cleaners, alkaline built liquid concentrates and in liquid and powdered steam cleaners.
