AIR INLET SILENCER

ROLLER-MOUNTED GATE VALVES

T h e unit is designed to reduce boiler operation noise in industrial complexes and other areas where noise level must be kept to a minimum. For use on all models of Cyclotherm boilers, it can reduce operating noise to the point that workers located in close proximity to boilers are unaffected by the boiler operation. Units can be supplied for existing boilers in the field, as well as for new installa401 tions. Oswego Boiler Co.

These valves are ideally suited to control nearly all granular and lump-size materials. T h e cut-off blade is mounted on bearing-type, self-cleaning rollers. No overunder bar tracts are used to guide the blade; thus materials buildup is eliminated, resulting in troublefree, jam-proof operation. T h e valves are available in sizes from 4 through 60 in. square flow throat and can be manufactured in carbon stainless, or abrasion-resistant steel. These gate valves can be operated pneumatically, hydraulically, or manually. Cleveland Armstrong 404 Corp.

HYDROHEATERS

These units provide continuous or intermittent heating of fluids instantaneously to predetermined temperature and volume. They may be used for initial or supplemental heating of liquids in any application which can tolerate minor water dilution caused by steam condensation. Final discharge temperatures can be held constant (to 350° F. at 150 p i . steam). T h e unique orifice elements permit simultaneous control of both temperature and volume. Hydro-Thermal Corp. 402

SUBMERSIBLE PUMP FILTER

T h e filter can be used either mounted, partially submerged, or entirely submerged and is recommended for removing dirt and other foreign matter from all types of chemical or electroplating solutions. Providing a flow rate of u p to 240 g.p.h., the unit gives both agitation and filtration of the solution at the same time. T h e motor is completely encapsulated in corrosion-resistant epoxy for submerged operation. T h e cartridge change in the filter can be made easily and without the use of tools. HYDROHEATER

DUST FILTER

T h e Day Type CS filter handles 40% (and in some cases u p to 100%) more air volume compared to similar size filters. T h e air- actuated control system requires no adjustment and is unaffected by dust, vibration, or heat at temperatures u p to 425" F. T h e cleaning mechanism drive is external to the main housing of the machine, and there are no internal lubrication points. T h e filter is being offered in four different models with capacities u p to 30,000 c.f.m. Carter-Day Co. 405

ULTRASONIC DRILL

ULTRASONIC DRILL

T h e unit is designed to drill both round and odd shapes in hard, brittle materials such as glass, quartz, ceramics, tungsten carbide, and germanium. The unit can also slice, engrave, carve, shape, broach, dice, and grind. T h e drill uses an abrasive slurry, and the abrasive does the actual cutting while the drill tool determines the shape. T h e drill's cutting depth varies with the drilled material, but generally runs from to in. Gulton Industries, Inc. 406

PR I OR1TY FLOW REGU LATOR VALVE

LITERATURE

T h e unit is a three-port, pressurecompensated priority valve that allows two separate systems to operate from one hydraulic pump. This valve features a 12-position detent setting to vary the priority system flow from 0.1 to 10 g.p.m. at pressures u p to 3000 p.s.i. Once the first, or priority, system requirements have been satisfied, the balance of the pressure and flow can be used to operate a secondary system still using only one pump. T h e valve is engineered so that all internal parts can be removed without disturbing the piping in the system. Fluid Power Accessories, Inc. 407

SEALESS PLASTIC PUMP

THE SOCMA HANDBOOK OF COMMERCIAL ORGANIC CHEMICAL NAMES is a glossary of approximately 27,000 names for 6,300 commercially-used organic compounds. In the handbook, you will find the CHEMICAL ABSTRACTS index name, other chemical names, names of derivatives and salts, trade names, molecular formulas, and structural diagrams for each compound. An alphabetical index of names makes locating information easy.

You will also find names and structiiral information for mixtures (elastomers, plastics and resins, rubber-processing chemicals, surface-active agents) and polymers. This handbook is a must addition to your reference shelf. The price of the handbook is $25. Send your order to: Special Issues Sales American Chemical Society 1 1 55 Sixteenth Street, N.W. T h e variable speed drive offers controlled flow of a wide range of corrosive fluids, solvents, abrasive slurries, and chemically pure solutions, T h e variable drive unit consists of one spring-loaded variable speed pulley and one nonloaded variable pitch pulley operated by a control which employs the micrometer principle of operation for extra sensitive regulation. T h e pump is available in a wide range of plastic construction materials such as Teflon, polypropylene, and polyethylene. Flow rates can be adjusted from 0 to 40 g.p.m. and discharge heads to 40 p.s.i. are available. Gordon Ryan, Vanton Pump and Equipment Corp. 408 GLASS COIL CONDENSERS

Designed for use in all-glass chemical plants, the condensers are fabricated from borosilicate glass and consist of a series of coaxial coils built into standard glass pipe. T h e coils are wound concentrically about a common axis with ample spacing between each loop. This ample spacing between coil loops a l l o ~ free s movement of vapor over the whole cooling surface and also creates considerable turbulence. T h e coils meet at common inlet and outlet ports at either end, making the condensers very sturdy. This also gives only a small pressure drop across the coils, thus enabling very high throughputs to be obtained. T h e condensers are available with flange diameters from 11/, to 6 in.
