INSTRUMENTATION Fluorescence. The Mercur model is a fully automated atomic fluorescence spectrometer based on the cold-vapor technique, in which mercury samples are converted to the gaseous state. The instrument analyzes mercury concentrations from sub-parts-per-trillion to midparts-per-billion levels. Analytik

Pipetting system. The Mosquito system can pipette 50 nL–1.2 µL volumes accurately and reproducibly. It has a spool of 35,000 miniature syringe-like micropipettes that provide a constant supply of disposable-tips to the fixed-head pipettor. Within seconds, an empty spool can be replaced with a new one. The Mosquito is ideal for high-throughput applications using 96, 384, and 1536 plates. TTP LabTech

Jena Wet chemistry analyzer. The Konelab series provides complete automated analysis of routine wet chemistry and photometric tests of water and wastewater samples. Users can load up to 84 samples into the analyzer without interrupting ongoing analysis. The Konelab instruments detect ammonia, aluminum, calcium, silica, and many other chemicals. The software automatically optimizes the sequence of the samples to increase efficiency. EST Analytical

Evaporators. Zipvap models hold standard microplates or deep-well plates, and the needle height is adjustable for 96 or 384 stainless steel needles. Flow control is adjustable, and the evaporators are com-

Mixer. Modular mixers can be customized to almost any size and for many different types of racks. With a high-torque stepping motor for precise control, the high- or low-speed mixing unit provides repeatable results. The mixers are used for biotechnology, process development, and combinatorial chemistry applications and are controlled through a PC with Labnetix or Labview software. Glas-Col
