Monitoring equipment Oxygen analyzer The OXYMAT 5 oxygen analyzer incorporates a microprocessor and control system using a paramagnetic method of monitoring and continuously measuring oxygen over a wide concentration range of 0.5-100%. The analyzer is used for process control and monitoring and is available in two designs: rack mounting and field mounting. Siemens Energy and Automation 101

Survey system The USRADS Model 2200 site characterization system achieves up to 10 times higher resolution than traditional methods and increases average sampling density to 4000 points per acre. The system allows surveys in building interiors and exteriors, including dense woods using timeof-flight technology to determine the surveyor's location automatically each second to an accuracy of 15 cm. This system is compatible with common sensors, including radiation detectors, magnetometers, metal detectors, and terrain conductivity meters. Chemrad Tennessee 102

Water quality The Model EM100 Water Quality Monitor provides continuous monitoring of up to 10 parameters with standard 4-20 ma, 0-1VDC or 0-5 VDC outputs. Available parameters include temperature, conductivity, pH, turbidity, ORR chlorides, nitrates, and ammonia. A clear acrylic flow system keeps the sensors clean and allows multiple measurements from a single sample water inlet with a single drain. Schneider Instrument 103

Vent gas analyzer The MTI Vent Gas Analyzers (above) are micro-gas chromatographs that have been specially configured to analyze and monitor emissions from process and storage tank exhaust vents and to determine the destruction efficiencies of abatement processes in the chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, paint, ink, and printing industries. The M2000 Vent Gas Analyzer is a 12-pound system that includes two complete GC modules. Each GC module includes an injector, a detector, a column and a column heater. Samples are pulled into the system via an internal sample pump and chromatographically analyzed in 160 s or less. The P200 is a portable version of the M200 Vent Gas Analyzer. It comes complete with an internal carrier gas tank and battery pack and weighs 23 pounds. Both the M200 and the P200 Vent Gas Analyzers are used to monitor VOC exhaust and calculate the efficiency of the VOC abatement process. MTI Analytical Instruments 104

Gas monitor The LMS-40 is a portable landfill site data collection monitor for simultaneous measuring of methane, carbon dioxide, oxygen, atmospheric pressure, differential pressure, and temperature. The lightweight landfill gas monitor has a built-in data logger to store all measurement parameters with reports that can be viewed or deleted on the screen, sent to a computer, or exported directly to a

printer. The LMS-40 is contained in a water-resistant case. Features include adjustable alarms, push-button zeroing, built-in status checks, and stability. CEA Instruments 105

NIR spectrometer The PbS-256 is a miniature fiberoptic NIR spectrometer system designed to record spectral data from 1 to 3 um at 256 wavelengths simultaneously. It features a 256-element lead sulfide linear CCD focal-plane array with an on-board multiplexer. User-adjustable integration times from 1.0 us to > 100 ms provide dynamic range and sensitivity for low and high light levels. The dynamic range of the PbS-256 is enhanced by detector-based dark current subtracters that use global and individual pixel adjustments via digital to analog converters. Ocean Optics 106

Gas chromatography The SpectraTrak 572 is a portable GC/MS system for field use, with value-added field sampling capabilities. The sample inletting capabilities provide improved sample path inertness and chromatographic integrity, efficient sample concentration and desorption schemes for volatile organics and air toxics, and a wide range of options for sample introduction and automation. The SpectraTrak 572 features an embedded microcomputer system that performs instrument control and data analysis functions. Viking Instruments 107
