NOW INSTRON CAN OFFER A COMPLETE SYSTEM FOR PHYSICAL TESTING AT HIGH AND LOW TEMPERATURES Extension rods, new grips are the latest additions to a modular system conceived and developed for fully compatible operation . . .

UNIVERSALTESTINGINSTRUMENT . . . Electronic load weighing, "building block" design provide basic physical testing accuracy and flexibility.

ENVIRONMENTAL CHAMBER . . . Standard and extra-width models for tensile and compression testing in a temperature range from—100° to +600°F.

NEW EXTENSION RODS . . . For use with a variety of load cells and grips, and designed to provide maximum travel at various gage lengths.

ENVIRONMENTAL TEST G R I P S . . . steadily growing line will provide full gripping capabilities at elevated and reduced temperatures.

Instron's precision Universal Testing Instruments are the basic element in a complete, fully modular, physical testing system. Four models are available, providing a tension and compression testing capability in a range from less than two grams, to over 20,000 pounds. A wide variety of easily selectable load ranges and testing speeds permit evaluation of the broadest range of materials. A complete line of standard and specialpurpose accessories permits tailoring the equipment to many specialized testing requirements.

Instron's new temperature chamber incorporates unique, radiant heating principles for testing at precisely controlled temperatures above or near ambient. A cooling unit can be attached to provide a capability for testing at below ambient temperatures. In either the hot or cold mode, specimen temperature is controlled to within dbl°F., and is measured without physical contact between specimen and probe. Basic chamber, support stand and cooling unit, may be specified separately, to satisfy particular requirements economically.

Instron's new line of stainless steel extension rods is now available for testing over the entire range of the temperature chamber. A choice of lengths are available, together with a complete selection of adapters, to assure maximum crosshead travel for any combination of load cells, grips, and initial sample length. The line includes a variety of extension rods suitable for both tension and compression testing. These rods are all designed so that they are fully compatible with all standard test fixtures in the Instron line.

Two of Instron's standard test grips are now available in modified form for use at temperatures from —100° to +600°F. and higher, with the environmental test system. Several more are in the development stage. The well-known Type 10F, wedge action grips, for example, are available in a stainless steel construction (type 10FA) for continuous testing over the entire temperature range from -100° to +600°F. Instron pneumatic action (type 3CA) grips are also available in extended-temperature-range models.

Designed to make optimum use of the accuracy and versatility of the Instron Universal Testing Instrument, this modular-designed equipment provides a broad option for the researcher who is concerned with precision physical testing, above and below ambient. By a p p r o p r i a t e selection of equipment, you tailor your system to your specific needs, at an initial cost that reflects only your particular requirement. Yet system

capabilities can be extended at a later date, through the p u r c h a s e of m o d u l a r a c c e s s o r i e s . F o r d e t a i l s on Instron's broad line of environmental testing equipment, write describing your requirements to Dept. 30-E, Instron Corporation, 2500 Washington Street, Canton, Massachusetts 02021.
