Why use Multi Dimensional GC? The demands made on analytical systems keep growing. Today's chromatographer is asked to obtain maximum results in the shortest possible time, even if the sample is 'dirty', or trace components have to be isolated from highly complex mixtures. If you face such problems (and which chroma tographer doesn't !) then the new generation of Packard MDSS* modules offer you a technique which, up to now, has been kept out of your reach. Multi Dimensional Chromato graphy is fast growing in acceptance because it's a practical answer to everyday laboratory situations. With this technique you can • maximize system resolution · minimize column deterioration · reduce analysis time • keep your detectors clean · perform trace enrichment. * Multi Dimensional Switching System Integrated system: Column/(Trap)/Column MDSS modules are available for five configur ations: for packed and/or capillary columns; with or without a trap. The trap allows interesting fractions to be collected, then re-injected onto the main column; trace enrich ment can be carried out by multiple trapping. The system is 'valveless' (following the Deans principle), and uses glass lined tubing to obtain maximum inertness. 50m SP-1000

A Packard first: keyboard control of all MPS S functions The interfacing of microprocessor technology with the MDSS module makes the Packard system unique: just one keyboard command is needed to activate an MDSS function. Complete programs (using solvent flushing, transfer, backflushing, monitoring, trapping, or re-injection) can be stored in time-based programs.

The areas in which the MDSS technique is being applied, continue to expand, both in research and routine labs. Just a few examples: isolation and quantitation of benzene in complex mixtures; separation of alcohols in alcohol/gasoline blends; PAH's in environmental samples; pesticide residues; and in the biochemical field, the analysis of barbiturates and steroids in urine samples.
