In continuation of its general program of determination of the heat capacities of the various metals and oxides which are important in metallurgical processes, the Pacific Experiment Station of the United States Bureau of Mines has studied an especially pure sample of metallic silicon. The method and apparatus used in this work are identical with those described p r e v i ~ u s l y . ~ The sample of silicon was furnished by the Electro Metallurgical Company of New York.
