SPE. SPE-Dex automated extractor for environmental analyses is de signed for use with 3M Ε m pore ex traction disks. The extractor is pre programmed to dispense solvents and water samples for all EPA meth ods, collect liquid waste and ex tracted organics, and rinse the sam ple container without operator intervention. Eight stations can be operated individually or in batch mode, and each station contains built-in sensors to monitor and con trol liquids and to measure vacuum and pressure levels. The controller is user-programmable for method de velopment. Horizon Technology 408 DNA amplification. Quant-Amp DNA amplification and detection system combines a scintillation prox imity assay (SPA) with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) DNA amplifica tion for detection of target sequences in 10 min and quantitation in 30 min without separation steps. PCR prod ucts can be quantitated by a total amplimer procedure by radiolabeling with [3H]dTTP followed by scintilla tion counting, or by a specific am plimer method in which an internal sequence of the target DNA is added to the reaction mix, which is then heated to separate double-stranded PCR products and incubated with SPA beads for scintillation counting. The assay is adaptable for RNA am plification. Amersham 409

O n e of the Few Things M o r e Predictable Than a Waters Nova-Pak Column. Today's method development labs require efficient HPLC columns that give reliable, reproducible results. When you use Waters'" Nova-Pak columns you can count on excellent reproducibility-batch to batch, lot to lot, location to location, day after day. Just like you can count on the sun to rise. W e control every step of the manu facturing process with over 6 0 QC tests in our ISO 9 0 0 2 material synthe sis facilities. Software Molecular modeling. C hem Dia gram v2.0 for Windows is a software package for drawing 2D chemical di agrams that can be moved, scaled, stacked, rotated, labeled, and inte grated with text. Drawing capabili ties include more than 12 tools each for bond, ring, and orbital specifica tions as well as snap-to guides for atom positions, bond lengths and an gles, and labels. A user-expandable library of diagram templates, a text processor, and graphics file import/ export capability are also included. Diagrams can be cut and pasted to other Windows- and DOS-based ap plications. Molecular Arts 410
