Base-Catalyzed Equilibration of 28- (XXII) and 201- (XXII1)-tpure ketone (10 mg.) was dissolved in 2 cc. of 5yGniethanolic sodium methoxide solution and heated under reflux for 2 h r . T h e solution was poured into water and the product extracted with ether. After washing the latter with water and drying, the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue (9 mg.) submitted directly t o rutatury dispersion measurements in methanol solution ( c 0.16). Tlic equilibration rnisture derived from the 2p-isomer X X I I exhibited [+p]E3' +1230", -856', while t h a t from the 2aisomer showed [
