Orbital Symmetry Concept in Organic Chemistry An Audio Course Produced by the American Chemical Society This ACS Audio Course is designed for chemists who are studying the theory and mechanisms behind organic reactions. You'll learn the elementary theories behind the topology and symmetry of molecular orbitals and how to combine theoretical concepts with practical applications. Using the nodal properties of Huckel molecular orbitals, this course shows you how to construct correlation diagrams and analyze transition states of pericyclic reactions as Hùckel or Mobius delocalized arrays, "ibu'll understand how the application of these concepts can be used to develop selection rules that can predict the course of pericyclic reactions.

Marye Anne Fox is the Rowland Pettit Professor of Chemistry at the University of Texas. Her research interests lie in physical organic chemistry with particular emphasis on mechanistic photochemistry and organic electrochemistry. Of particular interest in her research group have been investigations of the excited states of carbanions, organic photoelectrochemistry, chemically modified surface catalysis, and the synthesis and characterization of polymers for directional energy and electron transfer.
