ORION'S new "BOD electrode".

Measure dissolved oxygen with your pH meter.

a complete 0 2 measuring system Using any pH meter as the readout, the ORION 97-08 oxygen electrode greatly simplifies the routine measurement of dissolved oxygen and particularly the measurement of biological oxygen demand. Incorporated into one small package is an Oz sensor, a thermocompensator, electronic circuits, and operating controls. pH meter readout The miniaturized circuits built into this electrode change the electrical output of the 0 2 sensing element into a signal that can be "read" by your present analog or digital pH meter (eliminating the expense of a dedicated oxygen meter). This conversion makes sense because typical dissolved oxygen concentrations of water happen to fall into the range 0 to 14 ppm, making the pH scale of your meter well suited for reading oxygen levels. fast, simple standardization Standardization is made extraordinarily simple by the independent controls on the electrode that let you use room air as your standard rather than the airsaturated water used with conventional electrodes. simplified BOO measurements The electrode comes with an accessory overflow funnel that simplifies the measurement of oxygen in BOD bottles. The funnel is inserted into the bottle

before measurement to provide a reservoir for the water displaced by the electrode. The funnel prevents sample spillage and allows you to make oxygen measurements in the same BOD bottle before and after incubation . The neck of the overflow funnel extends down into the bottle and incorporates a captive magnetic stirring bar that provides the sample agitation necessary for accurate results (no retrieving stirring bars from your sample bottles!). fool-proof maintenance The sensor portion of the electrode employs a replaceable membrane/electrolyte module that eliminates the cutting and mounting of membranes as well as the electrolyte refills necessary with most oxygen electrodes. The ORION model 97-08 oxygen electrode makes Oz measurement as simple as pH measurement. This electrode is available from most leading laboratory supply distributors.
