Generous in his support and praise of others, he often said, "It does not matter who does it or who gets the credit, so long as it gets done". Otto M. Smith was born in Yeates Center, Kansas an May 12, 1884. He received his BS degree from Drury College in 1907 and MS and PhD from the University of 11linois in 1917and 1918, respectively. Dr. Smith had along teaching experience starting as a high school laboratory assistant in 1901and a Graduate Assistant a t the University of Illinois in 191619.
