Papers Presented at the 9th APCChE Congress, Christchurch, New Zealand, September 29 to October 3, 2002 The APCChE Congress is sponsored by the Asian Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineering. APCChE provides a forum and a meeting place for chemical and process engineers from primarily the Asian and Pacific Rim countries to meet, exchange information, and discuss chemical engineering problems and solutions. The 9th APCChE Congress, hosted by the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Canterbury, and organized by the Society of Chemical Engineers New Zealand, was held in Christchurch, New Zealand, from September 29 to October 3, 2002, with myself as Chairman of the Organising Committee. Over 700 delegates attended, and there were an unusually large number of the participants presenting papers and posters in the field of thermodynamics and thermophysical properties. It has been the tradition that selected papers from this Congress be published as special sections in both national and international journals.
